Deployment Approach

Before arriving onsite at your location, a Sybase IQ product consultant will become familiar with the specific business goals for your Sybase IQ ecosystem by completing a detailed technical questionnaire to capture the business function and technical requirements, as well as verifying the readiness of the planned platform infrastructure.

When first onsite, the Sybase IQ consultant will meet with the project sponsor and technical team to identify the Critical Success Factors for the engagement and with technical environment stakeholders to define the environment in which Sybase IQ is to be deployed. Discussions will be held with respect to source systems; data extract, transformation and load (ETL); and data extract, load and transform (ELT) tools/processes; data size and types; as well as client software for queries, analysis, and reporting. The full end-to-end ecosystem will be designed and documented and a detailed implementation project plan developed. If the customer already has an existing plan, the consultant will apply any necessary recommendations and modifications.

The rest of the engagement will be focused on executing the implementation plan to develop the entire solution. Working with your team, the Sybase IQ product consultant will verify that the necessary hardware and software is installed and configured for an optimal architecture deployment. The implementation plan may include the preparation of an optimized Sybase IQ schema or the application of modifications to an existing schema. The consultant will also guide your team in establishing an ELT or ETL scheme to perform an initial load and define the process for scheduling and maintaining the timeliness of the data. If there are existing queries to port over and/or business intelligence applications to utilize Sybase IQ, the Sybase consultant will participate on those tasks with your in-house experts.

When the Sybase IQ ecosystem is deployed, the consultant will collaborate with the technical team to assess the administrative and management procedures for an effective operation as well as to tune and optimize Sybase IQ for the best query response.

Finally, the Sybase IQ consultant will provide documentation of configuration details and any components developed.
