Sybase IQ Editions

  • Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition
Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition was designed to enable many users to perform extremely fast, flexible, interactive analysis, and ad-hoc queries, using off-the-shelf query tools. Sybase IQ can be loaded using a variety of methods including the Sybase ETL server, from flat files, directly from Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise or Replication Server, or through Enterprise Connect from non-ASE databases, and typically stores the data in less than the size of the original raw data. The Multiplex Grid option allows Sybase IQ engines to run on multiple nodes of a shared disk cluster to load or query a single image of the database. The Multiplex Grid option provides tremendous user scalability, load jobs scalability and high availability. For many data warehousing and DSS applications, Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition can improve query response time by up to 100 times.

    • Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition, Advanced Security Option
This option enhances the security protection already included in Sybase IQ. It allows user access authentication against Kerberos servers, and provides column level encryption, which allows one or more columns in database tables to be selectively protected from unauthorized users through a key-based encryption method . Plus, this option enables encryption of client-server communication and data store (columns and entire database) using Federal Information Protection Services (FIPS) 140-2 certified algorithms.

    • Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition, Multiplex Grid Option
The Sybase IQ Multiplex Grid Option enables users to incrementally scale-out concurrent query jobs, load jobs, or both. By deploying Sybase IQ servers as reader or writer nodes across multiple server machines connected to an array of shared SAN (storage area network) disks via high-speed interconnect, you can flexibly scale your environment as needed.

    • Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition, Very Large Database Management Option
This option enables users to partition data logically in a range of values and to partition data in logical groups of objects called table spaces. Range partitioning enables users to work at a higher level of granularity with the data in their environment by defining manageable subsets that are relevant for a particular set of queries. These partitions of data may be managed independently for backup, recovery and placement on appropriate storage tiers for performance and cost efficiencies. Table spaces also enable users to define more manageable sets of data, and to treat these as separate databases.

    • Sybase IQ Enterprise Edition, Large Objects Management Option
This option provides the means to store and retrieve unstructured data objects as part of the same repository as transactional or analytical data. LOB data may include images, maps, documents (postcript files, word processing files, presentations, etc.), audio, video, and XML files.

    • In-Database Analytics ? Partner Solutions Option (for Predictive Analytics)
This option brings in-database analytics capability to Sybase IQ via libraries of pluggable analytical algorithms from statistical and data mining software partners who have certified their products with Sybase IQ?s in-database analytics capabilities.

  • Sybase IQ Small Business Edition
The Sybase IQ Small Business edition provides the full functionality of Sybase IQ, exclusive of multiplex or any of the options available for the Enterprise Edition. It supports reporting and analytics environments of up to 250 gigabytes of stored data, running on one box with up to four cores, accessed by up to 25 user connections.

  • Sybase IQ Single Application Server Edition
Sybase IQ Single Application Server Edition is a highly optimized analytic engine, designed specifically to deliver dramatically faster results for reporting, analytics, and data warehousing solutions. It is optimized for applications with simple schemas and large amounts of data in a one or two machine environment. It was designed to enable many users to perform extremely fast and flexible interactive analysis, and ad-hoc queries, using off-the-shelf query tools.

The Sybase IQ Single Application Server Edition license is restricted to installation and use on no more than two (2) networked machines, and each machine is limited to a maximum of 64 CPUs. This license may be used to manage up to twenty-five (25) tables across a maximum of one hundred (100) columns. For example, the Sybase IQ Single Application Server Edition may manage (i) twenty-five tables with four (4) columns each or (ii) four (4) tables with twenty-five columns each. Any license fees paid for this license may be applied to a license credit towards an update to an unrestricted Sybase IQ license.
