5. Known Issues
This section contains known issues with MainframeConnect for DB2/MVS-CICS version 11.06.
General issues
TRS CSPs
The table_owner column for sp_tables is returned and padded to eight characters.
TSQUEUE
When tsqueue is set to aux or main and the first column is a non-nullable longvar, the beginning of the record buffer for tsqueues will not be set correctly.
RSPs
When an RSP has an input pipe and a DB2 output pipe that is opened simultaneously, the RSP will abend with an ASRA (abend code).
An incorrect length variable is being moved to the length of the standard output pipe variable record.
The spvarlen field is not being set if all the parms are keywords.
Quoted strings are not parsed correctly if two quotes are together within the string, for example "O'Riley".
CSAs and RSPs
If you are using CSAs or RSPs and MainframeConnect version 11.06 you need to install EBF NO. I0135 for Open ClientConnect version 4.0P1A or Open ServerConnect version 4.0P1A that will be issued following this release. There are incompatibilities with the CSA/RSP interface that is shipped with Open ServerConnect and Open ClientConnect APIs that this EBF will correct.
Note: EBF NO I0135 is ONLY to be installed if you are using CSAs or RSPs with MainframeConnect version 11.06.
6. Product Compatibilities
MainframeConnect for DB2/MVS-CICS is compatible with the following products:
Open ServerConnect for IBM CICS/MVS version 4.0
Japanese Conversion Module Release 3.1 and later
DirectConnect for MVS Release 11.1.1 and later
7. Software Bugs and Fixes
For information describing the fixes in this release, refer to the following table:
| Description | Resolution | QTS # |
|---|---|---|
| MainframeConnect changes all single-quotes and double-quotes to single quotes. | Quote transformation removed except for TRS and RSPs. | 135855 |
| TRS did not get dates in ISO format if DB2 date option was not ISO. | Add Date configuration option of ISO to the MainframeConnect configuration screen. | 137228 |
| In migrating, from MDI to DC DB2 and MainframeConnect, columns returned >255 bytes included 2 bytes undisplayable text in front of the result. | Removed the additional undisplayable 2 bytes. | 137486 |
| RSPs after being re-linked for MainframeConnect will not work with the old MDI Access Server. | RSP stubs can now be used for both MainframeConnect and the MDI Access Server. | 137921 |
| An RSP being called as an RPC by SQL Server produces an 063 message. | Corrected call. | 138839 |
| Columns defined as decimal (3,2) or (numeric 3,2) cannot be selected using version 11.1 of DirectConnect for DB2 or Mainframe Connect for DB2. | This problem has been corrected. | 139115 |
| SPCODE is not being returned properly from an RSP call through MainframeConnect. | This problem has been corrected. | 140752 |
| When a decimal column is defined with an odd number precision one greater than the scale, results less than one return bad values. | This problem has been corrected. | 140754 |
| Stop on condition, error, was not working correctly when a warning was issued for a language event. | This problem has been corrected. | 141118 |
| When running ASPT all result sets are being returned as upper case. MDI SPTEST returns data as is. | Corrected ASPT. | 142130 |
| CSA ASQL will not work with TCP/IP default in Open Client 3.2 EBF 6781. | This problem has been corrected. | 142423 |
| The "NO UDT" option does not work for all transactions in a CICS region. | "Send UDT" option added to the mainframe configuration. | 142490 |
| If SendWarningMessages property is set to "Yes" and MaxRows is reached DirectConnect does not issue a warning message. | Created new warning message 33243 for these conditions. | 142613 |
| ASPT does not return status information from the RSP. | This problem has been corrected. | 142624 |
| USE procedure does not invoke the RSP when called as a dynamic event. | RSPs can now be invoked via a dynamic event. (Backward compatibility issue with MDI Database Gateway.) | 142708 |
| DirectConnect TRS's sp_columns returns 26,0 for Timestamp's precision scale, rather than 26,6. | This problem has been corrected. | 163333 |
| MAXROWRETURNED message is currently defined as an error and should only be a warning. | Message level changed to warning. | 165248 |
| MainframeConnect not calling parse/request exits for cursor events. | Parse and request exit is now supported for cursor events. | 165253 |
| Language statements concatenated into a buffer greater than 32K fail. | This problem has been corrected. | 166144 |
| RSP returning multiple result sets show the wrong row count. | This problem has been corrected. | 166288 |

| Execution of AMD2 as an RPC gives a return code of "1" not zero. | This problem has been corrected. | 166464 |
| RSPs return warning messages even when SendWarningMessages is set to 'no". | This problem has been corrected. | 166539 |
| ASQL the CSA Open Client test program is showing date in the internal representation (2-4 byte integer fields) instead of Char format in either ISO or USA format. | If the UDT indicates this is a date or time then the datetime gets converted to date and time. Otherwise it is converted to a timestamp. | 166734 |
| Datetime parameter failed to get inserted into DB2 date, time, or timestamp fields. | This problem has been corrected. | 166818 |
| RSP input pipes does not return all the data in the pipe when the first record is smaller than the following records in the pipe. | This problem has been corrected. | 166872 |
8. Documentation Updates and Clarifications
In the MainframeConnect for DB2/MVS-CICS Installation and Administration Guide
The following updates to existing documentation should be noted.
In Chapter 5, Installing the MainframeConnect Tape
At the bottom of page 5-2, in step 4 change the reference to the CICS utility from "DFHCSDUB to read "DFHCSDUP".
In Chapter 7, Configuring MainframeConnect
On page 7-6 at the bottom of the page delete the following two bullets:
The block size divided by the record size equals the number of records per block.
The number of records divided by the number of records per block equals the number of blocks written to temporary storage.
At the top of page 7-7, change "blocks" to "records". The bulleted sentence should read:
The number of records it writes to temporary storage multiplied by the 8-byte storage ID equals the number of bytes of main storage.
Delete the entire example following the bulleted sentence.
In Appendix A, Error Messages
Add the following new error message:
DB2 Access Module warning (Max result size, %s, exceeded)
The DirectConnect configured MaxResultSize or MaxRowsReturned has been exceeded. The remaining results have not been returned.
Select a smaller result set or increase the configured value for MaxResultSize or MaxRowsReturned.
