There are two errors that engineers often encounter once they deploy their M-Business Anywhere channel:
  1. "Size limit exceeded for channel - (null)"
  2. "File size limit exceeded"

Required software

  1. M-Business 6.x
  2. Pocket PC and desktop computer

Explanation

First problem: "Size limit exceeded for channel - (null)"
This error occurs when the channel size exceeds the default maximum channel size allowed by the sync server. For example, if the user configures a channel of size 12 MB and tries to sync it, the server fails to sync this channel because the default maximum channel size is set to 2 MB. To fix this problem, do the following:
  1. Open the sync.conf file in a text editor.
This file is located in the C:\M-BusinessAnywhereServer\conf.
  2. Search for the following line:
    #SyncPref MaxTotalChannelsSize 2000
  3. Modify the line as follows:
    SyncPref MaxTotalChannelsSize 12000
  4. Save the file.
  5. Restart the sync server.

The # sign identifies a comment. Removing the comment tells the server that the maximum channel size allowed is 12 MB. You must restart the sync server for this setting to take effect.

Second problem: "File size limit exceeded "
This error occurs when the database channel size exceeds the default maximum Mammut fetch size allowed by the sync server. For example, if the user tries to sync an XML database with size of 12 MB, the server fails to sync this database because the default max size is set to 2 MB. To fix this problem, do the following:

  1. Open the sync.conf file in a text editor.
This file is located in C:\M-BusinessAnywhereServer\conf.
  2. Search for the following line:
    #SyncPref MammutMaxFetch 2000000
  3. Modify the line as follows:
    SyncPref MammutMaxFetch 12000000
  4. Save the file.
  5. Restart the sync server.

The # sign identifies a comment. Removing the comment tells the server that the maximum MammutMaxFetch size allowed is 12 MB. You must restart the sync server for this setting to take effect.
